New Construction Spray Foam Insulation

New build is the easiest version of this work and the easiest to get wrong on timing. The framing is open, which makes the install straightforward, but we have to land in the right slot between the other trades.

Before we book it in

What we confirm on a new build.

Most of what goes wrong on new build insulation is a sequencing failure rather than a product failure.

01

Rough-in is complete and inspected

Electrical, plumbing and mechanical all finished and signed off. Anything that comes back later has to be cut out of the foam.

02

The assembly and the requirement

The specification comes from the assembly and the code requirement for the location. It goes in writing.

03

Where we sit in the programme

Which week, how long, and who follows us. Agreed with the builder before the date is held.

The material decision

What gets used on a new build.

Mixed scopes are normal here. Different parts of one house often call for different products.

Open-cell spray foam

Usually fits
Conditioned roof decks and framed walls inside the envelope.

Closed-cell spray foam

Usually fits
Rim joists, crawl space walls, cantilevers and anywhere moisture is a factor.
We check first
Substrate readiness and the thickness the application requires.
How the job runs

How we fit into a build.

The aim is that we are the least disruptive trade on your programme.

  1. 01
We review the plans and the site

Assembly, boundary, mechanical layout and where the design has already made choices for us.

  2. 02
    We agree the slot

The week, the duration and what must be complete before we arrive.

  3. 03
You get the scope in writing

Areas, products, thicknesses, preparation and exclusions, so it can be priced against the rest of the build.

  4. 04
We install it and stand behind it

The crew that quoted the work is the crew responsible for it.

Questions people ask

New construction FAQs

The things owners usually want settled before they book an estimate.

When in the build should insulation happen?

After rough-in is complete and inspected, and before drywall. Anything that needs to sit behind the foam has to be finished and signed off, because getting back to it afterwards means cutting foam out of the assembly.

Do you work as a subcontractor for builders?

Yes, regularly. We are used to landing in a slot within a larger programme and to being held to a date. Tell us the week and what precedes us.

Can spray foam be used in a conditioned attic on a new build?

Yes, and it is one of the more common reasons to specify it. It is a design decision though, not a late substitution, because it changes the mechanical layout and the ventilation strategy. Decide it early.

What about code requirements?

Requirements vary by jurisdiction and by assembly, and they change. We specify against the requirement for your location and the inspector has the final word. We will not quote a figure here that might not apply to your build.

Do you serve builders in both Georgia and Alabama?

Yes. There are two crews, one working out of Lawrenceville across the Atlanta metro and North Georgia, and one covering North Alabama and the Tennessee Valley.
